Got this one in a rare beer gift pack and the majority of the brews in that collection have been underwhelming. This "Amber Animal," did not WOW me but as I worked my way through the nice looking bottle, it earned my respect.
What Should You Do With It? Drink the Beer
Lagunitas calls it a fractional IPA. That is actually a great description. It is not an IPA but is actually a shadow or a shard of an IPA, and really not overly successful in the effort.
Dogfish Head = Good. Pumpkin Beer (as a whole) = Bad. So you combine a great brewery with an overplayed, cliche, underwhelming genre of beer and you end up with something drinkable and about as good as a pumpkin beer can be.
Ring a ding ding, bring a Yuengling. That is the sound of me ringing the bell for the beer wench to bring me another of these surprisingly good seasonal martzens.
We have a gold theme going on here. Gold Cross is the name. Golden ale is the beer type. It’s a gold medal winner. With all of that said, I don’t know that I would put this beer at the top of the podium but I would certainly drink it any time.
Perhaps a little too much lemon for my taste but still a very good, full flavored hefeweizen.
I normally don't like sweet, thick beer. And please understand...this beer is sweet and it is thick. But it is really good and I am definitely glad it was gifted to me.
With a pretty grand hodge podge of flavors, Surly pulls of a really nice beer that is difficult to classify but pretty fun to drink.
This is a very strong beer, both in flavor and ABV. It is not for the weak but if you like the silky strong quadruple Belgian genre beers (just made that up), it will definitely be up your alley.
An extremely refreshing, simple, and great tasting lager. If you gave this beer to 100 People, my guess is that 100 would think it was at least a little bit good.
